Sure, you can change up the look of your bed with new sheets or a duvet cover. But have you considered switching up the headboard (without investing in a new one)? With a favorite blanket, a patterned sheet, or a fabric scrap, it’s simple (and easy to change out whenever you like). We wonder why we didn’t think to try it earlier.
Here are three ideas:
1. Fabric
Above: We first took note of the idea in Before & After: A Soulless Apartment Gets the ‘More Is More’ Treatment, where designer Sophie Rowell tucked vintage Indian Kantha fabric over the bed frame. “Drape one over the headboard to create a new look with very little expense,” she said. 2. Quilt
Above: Or try a quilt, like this one by Thompson Street Studio. Even a petite or baby’s quilt can change up a standard grey headboard. Photograph from Made from Scraps: Colorful Quilts by Thompson Street Studio.
3. Rug
Above: Bet you wouldn’t think to layer a rug atop the headboard. But here, in Sofie Howard’s Malibu Mobile Home by Reath Design, a Restoration Hardware headboard is given a bold new look with just that. Photograph by Laure Joliet.
