Anthony Batt, Founder and Managing Director at Optino, discusses working with interior designers to bring their creative visions to life.
Optino was founded in 2021 with a clear vision: to deliver exceptional customer experiences through high-quality lighting solutions tailored to both residential and commercial spaces. With over 25 years of industry expertise, Anthony Batt, Founder and Managing Director, brought his deep knowledge and passion for lighting to life through Optino.
Anthony’s journey in the lighting industry shaped the foundation of the brand. After decades of working closely with clients, suppliers, and designers, he saw an opportunity to create a company that not only supplied premium lighting but also elevated the customer journey – making it seamless, personal, and solution-driven.
Here, Anthony shares how Optino work with interior designers, guided by their core values of excellence, trust, innovation, and customer focus.
Can you talk about some of the services that Optino offer to interior designers?
We understand the vital role lighting plays in shaping mood, enhancing textures, and highlighting architectural features, so our services are designed to complement and elevate their design concepts.
The key services we offer to interior designer designers are: lighting design consultation, product sourcing and specification, custom lighting solutions, technical support and documentation, on-site support and project management, lighting control and smart integration, and end-to-end client support.
We’re not just a supplier—we’re a partner. We ensure that clients receive the same level of professionalism and care throughout the project, enhancing interior designers’ reputation and client relationships.
Whether it’s a high-end residential interior or a boutique commercial space, Optino becomes an extension of the design team, delivering lighting solutions that elevate a design and exceed client expectations.

Where does the conversation begin when working with an interior designer on a project?
The conversation with an interior designer begins with understanding the vision—not just the lighting requirements, but the mood, aesthetic, and purpose of the space. Lighting is an integral part of design, and the earlier we’re brought into the process, the more value we can add.
The first conversation is all about collaboration. We encourage designers to come prepared to share their design intent or mood boards, as well as floor plans and elevations, furniture layouts and material finishes, any functional requirements, and of course budget and timelines.
From there, we work with the designers to develop a tailored lighting brief. This typically includes design goals and emotional tone, room-by-room breakdown of lighting needs, fixture styles and preferences, control requirements, and integration needs with joinery or architectural elements.
This stage is collaborative—we’ll ask questions, offer ideas, and ensure we’re aligned with the creative direction and practical needs of a project.
By establishing a strong foundation early on, we can streamline the process, avoid costly rework, and help to deliver a beautifully lit space that lives up to the design vision.

How do you ensure a seamless working process?
We pride ourselves on offering a hands-on, highly collaborative approach that ensures a seamless working process from concept to completion. We understand that lighting is just one part of a broader design and construction journey—so we make it our mission to integrate smoothly with the workflow, not disrupt it.
To ensure a smooth, stress-free process we have clear and open communication from the start, and have detailed planning and documentation. Our team carry our regular site visits and are proactive with problem-solving.
We provide ongoing support through to completion. Even after installation, we’re here to ensure everything performs as it should—whether that’s helping with control system set-up, fine-tuning lighting levels, or troubleshooting unexpected issues.
Ultimately, our goal is to make the designers job easier. We act as an extension of the team, ensuring the vision is realised—on time, on budget, and without stress. That’s the Optino difference.
What are you working on next?
We’re currently collaborating with a number of leading interior designers and architects on high-end residential builds, boutique hospitality venues, and bespoke commercial fit-outs. Each project is an opportunity to explore innovative lighting concepts that are not only functional but elevate the entire design narrative.
