One of the last exhibitions I visited in 2025 was the brand new Amsterdam Ceramics An exhibition showcasing contemporary ceramic projects by over 15 designers from my hometown. Organizers Giedre Kaziunas, ceramicist and co-founder of Swayze , and Lennard Houkes, founder and creative director of Studio Pansa shared the belief that ceramics deserve stronger artistic visibility in a city filled with exceptional makers. Being closely connected to Amsterdam’s ceramic community, they both saw the richness of practices and the lack of platforms presenting ceramic work as art. From that starting point they created a platform that highlights contemporary ceramic projects, including sculptural and functional pieces.
Set in the Bagagehal of Loods6, the event offered a unique opportunity to experience the diversity, craftsmanship, and creativity of Amsterdam’s ceramic community. By highlighting ceramics within the context of design and interiors, Amsterdam Ceramics aims to establish itself as a meaningful meeting point for artists, collectors, and design professionals. I can’t wait for the next edition!!
Again capturing photos at exhibitions like this is never easy, so bare with the quality of some of the images.
