When visiting another city I always love to visit my favourite stores, and when reading about Zara Rotterdam including the home department being the largest European store of the brand I had to have a look. Although the two smaller stores, one home and a special kitchen store, at van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam have most new items, I still miss our large Amsterdam store. I really hoped Rotterdam having a large home store but unfortunately it was not much bigger than the one we have in Amsterdam.
Nevertheless I had a look at the large Zara fashion store and besides the large collection, it was the decor that particularly caught my attention. I really loved how stone was used in the store, the raw stone blocks throughout the store, used for display and some offering a seat and even a whole wall was covered in stone.
Beautiful cabinets and fitting rooms
What really caught my eye was how large wooden cabinets replaced the regular clothes racks and how the fitting rooms in this particular part of the store were closed off with long heavy linen curtains while the floor, including the wall and bench, was covered in sisal carpet. Really stunning! I made a few snapshots with my IPhone, hence the bad light. But this post is just for inspiration and maybe you will remember it when you are in Rotterdam one day.
