Recently I discovered Rem  Remake Furniture, Japanese furniture makers that restore and recycle old furniture and tools that are no longer in use. Beautiful antique furniture, from drawers and tall cabinets to store counters.  Especially the black drawers caught my eye because of their very matte look. I selected a few from their collection.

Most of the furniture is old and has visible signs of wear, which gives each piece the beautiful imperfect look that I personally love. The different cabinets also remind me of my favorite exhibition during the last Milan Design week edition, earlier this year. I visited Japanese hemp textile brand majotae there which was a beautiful serene experience and just like Remake furniture gives me that beautiful imperfect Wabi Sabi feeling. If you love Japanese crafts and want to add some beautiful minimal Japanese interior items  to your home, than please have a look at the items I curated with that in mind here on my website

The Mizuya Chest of drawers – The base, the bottom part, has been newly remade.
It is finished with black lacquer and brown paint, leaving some unevenness on the surface.

Tea Cabinet, the sliding doors are covered with layers of washi paper, and ink.

This store counter looks so beautiful, Remake used the old scratches and peeling paint to complement the color with persimmon tannins and black lacquer.
