At this year’s Decorex International 2024 show, the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum) is delighted to be showcasing its home interior collaborations under the theme of “Persian Enchantment” on stand G35. This is a celebration of the V&A’s fine collections of Indian, Iranian and Mughal art and explores the universal themes of adventure, exploration and wanderlust.
The V&A, renowned for its extensive collections and influence on the world of design, will be bringing a selection of pieces that highlight the museum’s commitment to preserving and celebrating the art of interiors. Attendees of Decorex will have the unique chance to explore a display that reflects the V&A’s mission to inspire design and innovation through the power of creativity.
The products are developed through the museum’s award-winning brand licensing programme. Collaborating with manufacturers and retailers across the world, the programme provides a tailor-made research and design development service that ensures products encapsulate the rich themes, colours and textures of the V&A’s remarkable collections.
Highlights include beautiful new additions to the inaugural rug collection from Agnella by Brintons, an opulent selection of velvet upholstery fabrics by Sofas & Stuff and ranges with 1838 Wallcoverings, wall art from King & McGaw and Samsung.
Agnella by Brintons rugs, V&A Design Discoveries collection
Agnella by Brintons, specialists in crafting premium wool rugs, have added new designs to their Design Discoveries collection which will be on display at Decorex. Building upon the resounding success of the launch in 2023, the new 15-piece extension exemplifies their commitment to celebrating design, craftsmanship and manufacturing excellence. The designs draw inspiration from a wide array of artefacts, including the vibrant florals of 20th century dress fabrics, the detailed botanical wonders of William Kilburn’s 18th century paintings and the rich geometric designs of tapa cloth from the Pacific Islands.
1838 Wallcoverings, V&A Decorative Papers II collection
Meanwhile, 1838 Wallcoverings introduced their second V&A range, Decorative Papers II. A joyful and captivating collection of nine wallpaper patterns in over 30 colourways, they draw inspiration from woodblock prints, watercolour sketches, textile treasures and upholstery fabrics. Visitors can look forward to seeing both a mural and a wallpaper adorning the walls of the V&A’s stand.
Sofas & Stuff, V&A Threads of India and Threads of India Opulent Velvets collections
Earlier this year Sofas & Stuff presented Threads of India, and at Decorex, a new selection of velvet fabrics, Threads of India Opulent Velvets will be unveiled. Both collections draw inspiration from the V&A’s illustrious archive of South Asian textiles, celebrating India’s timeless textiles and global influence, and elevating luxury living spaces with a touch of history.
King & McGaw art prints, V&A collection
King & McGaw continues its long-standing collaboration with the V&A, delivering framed fine art prints from their state-of-the-art workshop in East Sussex. The selection on display at Decorex will include reproductions from 19th century wood blocks, a Persian wallpaper design and highlights from Owen Jones’ design masterpiece, The Grammar of Ornament.
Samsung Art Store, V&A collection
The Frame TV is a state-of-the-art TV on the inside, cleverly disguised as a framed piece of art when it’s switched off. Samsung Art Store makes works of art available for owners of The Frame TV. At Decorex there will be a selection of V&A artworks on display, spanning Indian art, architecture, Arts and Crafts patterns and Chinese design.
