At the Belfast office of one of the largest professional services firms in the world, Style worked with architect, Perkins & Will, and Edgewater Contracts, to create flexible space in the company’s showcase meeting room on level 16, maximising the panoramic views across the Belfast skyline.
Retaining the light, open feel of the floor, Style installed a semi-automatic, Dorma Huppe Variflex glass moveable wall, with frosting and manifestation on the panels for added privacy.
Creating a 52 dB acoustic divide, this market-leading moveable wall enables staff to create a smaller, private meeting room off the main open plan floorspace, or open the entire area up for larger conferences and gatherings.
“This is an exceptional moveable wall solution for a stunning meeting room,” said Angela McGowan, sales director for Style Scotland and Northern Ireland.
“Due to its smooth operation and lightweight panels, the wall can be quickly moved in and out of position to cater for the various internal and external meetings that run each day.”
The semi-automatic operation specified for this installation ensures the acoustic performance of the system is maximised by expanding substantial rubber seals to exactly the right pressure every time. Delivering a reliable 52 dB rating, events can be confidently scheduled to run alongside each other without risk of disturbance.
The semi-automatic operation also minimises the chance of damage through manual handling although, as the board faces are manufactured separately to the frame, it is a relatively simple and low cost task to replace a damaged or scuffed one.
Confirming the Variflex and Variflex Glass moveable wall systems as highly sustainable options, they both hold Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) compliant with ISO 14025 and EN 15804. This provides verified, lifecycle-based environmental performance data, supporting green building certifications like DGNB, LEED, and BREEAM.
In addition, Style recently renewed the Variflex Health Product Declarations (HPDs), providing complete transparency about specific material ingredients.
